Hey Floridians!
I coming to visit you!!!
I will be in
Gainesville from the
17th to the 28th of June, and would LOVE to meet you and have a photo session with you. If you are interested in booking a photoshoot with me, please contact me at
kehaddock@mac.com and we can discuss all the details necessary to book your very own tailored session. I am only doing a very
limited number of shoots while there and I will book them on a
first come, first serve basis so don't waste any time, get ahold of me pronto!
I cant wait to photograph the lush green landscape, the cypress trees and my personal favorite, the SPANISH MOSS!! It would be even better if you were in the shot as well.
I hope to hear from you soon. :)
Happy Memorial Day!

The Crofts Family
A couple days ago I had the pleasure of taking The Crofts family out for a family photo session. I took them to a couple of my favorite locations. (I openly admit it. I'm obsessed with the tall grass.) I brought along a couple of swirly suckers for the girls who are just about as sweet as can possibly be. They played so nicely together. I can only imagine how cool it would be to have a twin sister.
This thought makes my mind wander to nice places...
Here are couple of highlights from our afternoon together.

Alisha
My awesome friend
Alisha and her sweet little baby boy came to visit me the other day from Salt Lake. Alisha is a photographer as well but in this world where everyone is a photographer, she is especially unique. She shoots film which is one thing, but even more than that, she also specializes in
large format photography. How cool is that? Her work is geared toward personal projects (for the love) and commercial jobs (to pay the bills). She is currently working on a project entitled Matter where she is photographing all of the people who have impacted her life in a positive way. I love the idea of personal work and making photography about more than just pretty pictures. Alisha is doing that and doing it well. She inspires me to approach photography in a bigger way. To find a purpose to serve through the creation of my images and have it mean something when I'm done. I continue to work on that.
If you have any interest in commissioning some large format photographs of you and your loved ones, contact her! You will not regret having this kind of portrait taken. It is truly unique and special, just like my sweet friend here...

The After Math
Is this disaster as fresh in your mind as it is in mine? Probably not, so here is your reminder.
Once we got to the haircutting salon, I got much of the same reaction from her except that this time she was crying because she finally realized what had to be done to fix the problem.
That single tear about broke my heart, but then I saw what was emerging and I couldnt help but smile. Her hair began to take on a new and unexpected shape and I started to get so happy!!
Then finally, after she had lost a good six inches of hair from her pretty little head, we ended up with...
This adorable A-line bob! I couldn't be more happy with the results. I don't think I ever would have gone for this style on her without her taking things into her own hands, but I absolutely LOVE this look on her.
She likes it too. :)

Oh No You Di'int!!
Yes she did.
I can hardly believe it. I thought this only happened to other people's kids. I'm still in shock and am unsure as to how to go about fixing it. Any ideas? When I asked her WHY? She said between sobs, "I dont want long hair. I want short hair."
As much as I dont want to give it to her, she's going to get what she wants...
I'm going to go cry now.
You Ready For This?
Ah yes, Cooper and Priscilla. Two beautiful people. Naturals in front of the camera. Deeply in love. So perfect together!
Do you remember their
engagement session last month? Well their wedding is next weekend! The excitement is building and it was so good to get together with them again for their bridal and groomal session. On a side note, why in the world do they call it 'groomals'? I hate that word. So maybe we shouldn't use all that formal language. Instead lets just say that we went out, they were dressed to the nines, and they worked it in front of the camera like pros. Yeah, that's much better.
The following are a selection of my faves, which were very hard to choose by the way, but you should know, the first and the last are at the top of that list. For me, at least. :)

May 10.
A short story.
I bought a polaroid camera for five dollars at the Salvation Army.
It works great! Even the flash is still flashing.
Hooray!
But film is hard to find.
A thing of the past. :(
The bright side.
I had ten exposures of expired film.
Very very old.
Circa 2001.
A gift from my dad.
Thank you.
Ten precious clicks of the shutter.
What precious bits of wonder will I capture?
Almost afraid to "waste" a shot.
Finally, the nerve and the perfect opportunity.
Click!
Alas, only puke green.
Oh well.
May as well start clicking away.
Nothing to lose but puke green film framed in textured white.
Until...
It was the sixth attempt.
I watched her slowly appear.
The only image to develop into something.
She was perfectly framed.
How did I do that?
I don't know.
Pure luck.
This picture of my mom was the only photo out of ten to develop.
This picture is real. Authentic.
Not posed. Not altered. Not planned.
The variation of colors,
The warping caused by the age of the film,
The fact that only part of the image can be seen and the rest has been left unactualized.
These things tell the truth.
I love it.
I love her.
And I love being a mother.
What a beautiful gift that is given to women. :)
Happy Mother's Day.
