Peace and Pandemonium

The weather played a huge trick on us this day.
Sunny and gorgeous all day and then as soon as our session was to start, the thick darkness rolled in.
Again, Im not one to step away from a fight and neither were the McKenzies.
We faced those clouds with no fear.
In this case however, the weather kind of won.
It was rainy, super windy, cold, and way dark at 5 o'clock.
Not perfect picture taking conditions.
We powered through and still got some great shots though.
Here's the proof...

I enjoyed a refreshing sense of liveliness while shooting the Gilbert Family a couple weeks ago.
For some (wonderful) reason I was motivated to push the envelope, experiment with the light, to step out of my box and do a different kind of family session.
Maybe because I thought that no matter what, they'd be up for it.
Thankfully, they were!!
I am so pleased with how these turned out.
It was a refreshing change of pace for me.
Thank you Gilberts, for a lovely evening. Oh and thanks for the Costa Vida too. :)

Picture this.....
Dark threatening storm clouds were rolling in from the west. It was obvious that the rain was coming, potentially more. Instead of going in the other direction to possibly postpone this potentially negative effect on our photo shoot, we drove right into it. Straight into the eye of the storm.
Yeah, thats how I roll. No fear! :)

To my delight, the blue grey overcast sky brought out the saturated jewel tone colors of the clothing worn by this handsome family and when it did finally rain, it didn't last too long and it only sprinkled. Everyone was such a good sport and it ended up being a great day for a shoot. I was so happy to get out and work with the Hollis family. I really enjoyed the afternoon.

Ok.
I may have gotten a little carried away.
I told you it would be The Thalmans: The Extended Version.
I wasn't kidding.

I just love this family so much. We had a blast together.
Thank you Thalmans, for allowing me to document your family and your relationships. :)




























And finally, this is what happens when all the adults tell one cousin to kiss the other. A steamy make out session ensues and new light is shed on the term kissin' cousins. :)
